J & S Montgomery is a family run business. It was established at the end of 1975 by Messrs John and Stewart Montgomery and, at that time, the business repaired tractors and machinery for local farmers, while used tractors were also purchased to restore for resale.

J & S Montgomery value themselves as a hard working company, striving to provide our customers with the best products and services there is to offer, with a dedicated staff to provide an excellent service in all areas.

In 1980, J & S Montgomery obtained the John Deere franchise, and this opened an avenue of opportunities for the business.

Overall, J & S Montgomery now employs over 50 members of staff, several of whom have been employed by the company for the majority or entirety of their working career. Of those staff, 22 work in service and they are supported by the invaluable office staff.

Expansion for the business came in November 2005 and that was the acquisition of the Stranraer depot which saw J & S Montgomery expand into South Ayrshire and Stranraer and Wigtownshire. Further expansion also came in 2015 when a new depot was opened at Ayr.

Currently, the business’ main franchises are John Deere, KTwo/Warwick, Yamaha, Kramer, Kverneland, Logic, Nugent, Opico and Stihl.

Since establishing the business 45 years ago, John and Stewart continued to be at the forefront of the operation. After a long battle with cancer, Stewart sadly passed away in March 2020 and he is affectionately remembered by all who knew and worked with him.

The business continues to be run by the Montgomery family today.
